PROGRAM: Domestic Violence Services
POSITION: Domestic Violence Response Team Member (DVRT)
WHEN: Available On-Call Evenings/ Weekends as needed
WHERE: Various locations, see below
IN SUMMARY: DVRT is a  partnership between WomenRising and law enforcement agencies of Hudson County. The  Domestic  Violence  Response  Team  provides support  and assistance to  victims  of  domestic violence  and  their families at the  police department. The DVRT volunteers should be able to:

Explain domestic violence laws to victims
> Identify services each client needs and refer clients to services at WomenRising
Assist clients to seek shelter, explain the dynamics of domestic violence, provide emotional support, and assist victims in preparing a safety plan
> Successfully complete 50+ hours of DVRT training provided by WomenRising

This position is needed in various locations in NJ and NY such as: Bayonne, East Newark, Guttenberg, Harrison, Hoboken, Jersey City, Kearny, North Bergen, Secaucus, Union City, Weehawken, and West New York

PROGRAM: Corporate Volunteer Days
WHEN: Available throughout the year during the week
WHERE: Jersey City, NJ
IN SUMMARY: WomenRising often hosts Corporate Volunteer Days which can involve a range of activities. Some companies like to work directly with clients, helping to put on job readiness workshops. PROGRAM: Host an Event or Drive! 
WHEN: Anytime! 
WHERE: New Jersey/New York City
IN SUMMARY: We are always looking for volunteers to help us engage the broader community to spread awareness about domestic violence, homelessness, unemployment, and the many other issues we tackle at WomenRising! 

Host an event to raise money for WomenRising's programs
> Help our clients focus on becoming self-sufficient by taking some financial burdens off of their plates by hosting a drive to collect diapers, toiletries, women products, etc.  
Invite a WomenRising staff member to come to your job, school, or social club to explain more about WomenRising and domestic violence!

PROGRAM: WomenRising Dress Down Day! 
WHEN: Anytime 
Schools, businesses, companies, and everyone in between can participate in our WomenRising Dress Down Day! Help spread awareness about WomenRising while supporting our cause by having staff donate $1 to dress down for a day. All proceeds will be donated to WomenRising!

In-Kind Donations & Drives


Donations of goods and services are extremely valuable to WomenRising's programs. We are able to accept donations that benefit women as well as children (newborn through 18), at the request that the items being donated are new.

Example of Services needed:

> Shipping and moving services
> Mentoring/tutoring
> Professional services
   (accounting, lawyer, etc.)
Meeting/event space
> Copying/printing
> Pro bono professional and beauty          services

Examples of Goods needed:

> Diapers and sanitary products

> PJs, slippers, and sweatpants
