Each service is crucial to ensuring women in the Hudson County community have the tools necessary to live life to the fullest potential, with a secure and safe environment to help them progress and grow. Despite the COVID-19 Pandemic, WomenRising continues to serve the Hudson County community while assuring the safety and well-being of our staff, our clients, and our community:
Domestic Violence Department staff are on the frontlines ensuring victims of domestic violence are protected 24/7 through the operation of our Hotline, Shelter, and DV Response Team. The staff are always ready to assist victims with Safety Planning, to provide ongoing support by phone or other means, and to connect callers with other services to ensure the safety and well-being of all.
Youth and Family Counseling Services have shifted their programming to offer support through confidential virtual counseling sessions to members of our community who are experiencing increased anxiety and stress, having trouble navigating homeschooling, or are generally just feeling down.
Village of Families’ case managers are keeping in constant contact with their clients to help them navigate this new normal. They also connect them with necessities they may be short on, such as food, toiletries, tech resources, and much more, and travel around the county to deliver these needed items.
Community Economic Development Department is there for community members who are seeking employment and concerned about their financial health. The staff are responding to increased callers and providing 1:1 assistance in locating available jobs, resume design, and interview prep.
Healthy Women, Healthy Families partnership remains connected to mothers-to-be whose concerns span beyond their own health. Our staff advocates for services, identify resources, and assist the future mother's transition into healthy motherhood.
The COVID-19 Pandemic has not interrupted the crises our clients face daily; therefore, it has not interrupted any of WomenRising's programming. In fact, in many cases, it has dramatically increased the need for our programs. Together, we can ensure that WomenRising's vital services will be available to our most vulnerable community members and neighbors through the COVID-19 Pandemic and beyond.
“We want to thank all who are working to keep our community healthy, safe, and cared for in these times. We certainly have gained a heightened awareness and appreciation of the many people in different roles, settings, and salary scales that are serving on the front lines and many others who are providing essential services that might otherwise be taken for granted. Each of us must continue to do what we can to support each other and our community at this time. Thank you for helping WomenRising to provide essential services.
- Sister Roseann Mazzeo
