Happy #NationalInternDay! This year WomenRising is delighted to have four young women from three different stages of education. Farangiz is an incoming freshman, Jenessy and Jade are entering their final year of high school, and Joy will be starting her junior year in college this fall. The best part of being an intern at WomenRising: I absolutely love being an intern at WomenRising because I get to work with and meet amazing and strong people who have a passion for helping women in need. I can also read success stories about past clients, which is truly inspiring. It is a great environment to work at and I'm so excited to spend my next high school years volunteering here!
Favorite inspirational woman: Amelia Earhart has always been my inspiration since I was young. She was an extremely intelligent woman, who believed that all women could achieve the same careers as men. She accomplished many amazing things by pursuing her flying career and is a hero to all women.

What you want to do when you grow up: Corporate Lawyer. Eventually, I would love to open my own firm and provide pro-bono legal advice to female entrepreneurs from low-income areas.
Favorite inspirational woman: Wangari Maathai; Maathai was a Kenyan activist, feminist, politician, and first African woman to win a Nobel Peace Prize. She once said, "They can't stand a woman who stands up." As a Kenyan woman trying to break into a field that has immense barriers to entry for a woman of color, her words remind me to never undervalue my worth or the strength of my voice and actions.
The best part of being an intern at WomenRising: The best part of being an intern at WomenRising is knowing that every task you do serves a greater purpose and is changing someone's life for the better. In a world where negativity and division are pushed to the surface, interning at WomenRising reminds me that kindness, charity, and unity go a long way.
