For far too long, women have been mistreated mentally and physically and improperly represented financially in the workplace. But it seems that this will be the year that we will see a shift in this behavior.
2018 kicked off with a genuine bang, “a power of women bang.”
And it started as soon as January 1, 2018, with the solution-based unified message of #TimesUp, the call to combat sexual assault, harassment, and inequality in the workplace. Women everywhere, from Hollywood to blue and white collar workers alike, are calling for leadership that reflects the world in which we live and the respect and safety necessary to lead a comfortable work-life.
Also on January 1, 2018, Iceland, who is ranked by the World Economic Forum as the global leader on reducing gender inequality, fully enacted the world's first equal pay law. This new law requires companies with 25 or more employees to obtain certification to confirm that equal pay is a reality for all employees, regardless of gender.
"For too long, women have not been heard or believed if they dared to speak their truth to the power of those men. But their time is up. Their time is up!" - Oprah Winfrey
The vibration of the “power of women bang” has carried on in the week and a half since the world indirectly made its new year resolution to treat women better with the empowering actions that took place at the 2018 Golden Globes. The world watched as Hollywood’s elite used their platform to spread awareness about the current state for women in the workplace, inspire those who can make a difference to, and to provide women with the confidence to speak up and out against their abusers so they can be one less instead of #metoo.
“Because of a lot of magnificent women and some pretty phenomenal men fighting hard to make sure that they become the leaders who take us to the time when nobody has to say 'me too' again.” - Oprah

“So I want all the girls watching here and now to know that a new day is on the horizon!” - Oprah
